Eurus is the east or southeast wind in Greek mythology. It's characterized as a turbulent wind appearing during storms, tossing boats this way and that on the sea. Also associated with heat, because the sun rises in the east.

Lacroix means the cross in French. It was often used for someone who lived near a cross, or a crossroads. Since her parents have direction names (left and right), it seemed appropriate.

The windflower holds a variety of meanings, including 'anticipation,' 'abandonment,' 'ephemeral love,' and 'forsaken.' It also heralds the arrival of spring winds. In Greek mythos, the windflower was said to spring from the blood of Adonis, the mortal lover of Aphrodite, as he lay dying from his wounds.
