Childhood Encounter

Rhine was a fairly adventurous child, going exploring whenever she could slip out from adult supervision. When she was eight, she wandered too far off and got lost in the caves, where she befriended Cotton the Scream Tail, who was equally lost as she was. While search parties were sent out for her, she and Cotton eventually found their way out of the cave system, stumbling home to her very relieved mother. From that moment on, Rhine and Cotton were inseparable best friends.

Idol Camp

Scouted by Hoenn entertainment company Charm Up!, Rhine was given the opportunity to participate in reality TV competition Idol Camp, where aspiring singers and dancers competed for the attention of various figures in the entertainment industry. While she was deciding whether or not to accept the invitation, Cotton had also captured the interest of notable professors and biologists hoping to study him for further understanding of the Jigglypuff line. In the end, they agreed on their mutual dream to sing and perform for the world, accepting the invitation for Idol Camp.

During their time at Idol Camp, Cotton was viewed as somewhat odd, and while Rhine was allowed to partner with him for the time being, they were worried about her image as she got older, and gave Rhine a Popplio to partner with, named Charis. Publicly, Rhine has admitted that she contemplated leaving the program, but was persuaded to stay by Cotton, who wanted at least one of them to achieve their dream. With Cotton's support and encouragement, Rhine put her heart and soul into fulfilling the dream for both of them, and Charis evolved into Brionne during the season finale, winning her the top spot in her season of Idol Camp. She was signed by Charm Up!, and a teaser was soon put out for a new girls group with Rhine as lead vocalist.

Marissa (rival): Mari was her main rival during her time at Idol Camp, and her main counterpart in Heart Scale. When Mari kicked up a fuss and started to leave Heart Scale, Rhine thought she was being selfish and self-centered because she was breaking up a good thing. However, as the debacle went on, she started to have her own doubts about their management and their treatment of Cotton. Eventually, she outwardly supported Mari, and Heart Scale as a group was dissolved when their leads stepped away from the company. Perhaps they'll never be very close as friends, but they'll always share that thread of understanding, and they support each other publicly as they try to build their own individual careers.

Pokémon

Cotton Candy: Rhine met Cotton after getting lost exploring the caves as a child; with Cotton's help, they made it out together and have been inseparable since. Cotton's appearance was a curiosity for biologists, and Rhine turned down multiple requests asking them to consider lending Cotton for closer study. They shared a love of singing and performing, so when Rhine made Idol Camp, she insisted on bringing Cotton along. Cotton's odd appearance wasn't welcomed with open arms by the producers and management, so when Rhine was given the ultimatum that they would sign her if her main partner was Charis instead, Cotton insisted she go along with it to achieve her dream. Cotton and Rhine are very much two peas in a pod - they really, really enjoy lazing about in their downtime, and they take their singing very seriously.

Charis: Given to Rhine as a Popplio to partner with when she made it to Idol Camp, her management insisted on Charis being her partner Pokémon as she made her official debut. Charis is understandably quite prideful about her voice and appearance. Charis had some doubts about Rhine's move to break away from her former management company, partially because she was worried she'd be pushed aside for Cotton, but eventually sided with Rhine, and has come to see the benefits of their current situation.

Syren is Rhine's stage name, after the mythological human-like creatures who had alluring voices, luring sailors to their deaths.

Rhine is named after the river Rhine, which the stone Lorelei, an infamous maritime disaster site, is situated on. Rhinestones were originally rock crystals gathered from the river Rhine.

Constance, her middle name, comes from Lake Constance, on the river Rhine.

Vogel is Old High German for bird, a nickname for a person who likes to sing.

Heart Scale: Rhine's keepsake from her time as part of Heart Scale. It was their signature necklace, and holds a special place in her jewelry box.
