Early Childhood

Fantina grew up in Lumoise City, Kalos, to wealthy parents. Her mother was an accomplished fashion designer, and her father a high ranking businessman that often travelled for work. At some point their relationship became strained; her mother discovered her father was having an affair with a woman in Sinnoh and had a daughter with her, and demanded that he either divorce her or cut contact with the other woman. Her father capitulated to her mother's demands, but the family unit was shattered; Fantina recalls chilly dinners and awkward silences between them at home.

In an effort to distract herself, she threw herself into extracurriculars at school, primarily dance and theatre and drama classes. Regardless of their fractured relationship, both parents loved their daughter dearly, and Fantina remembers learning sewing at her mother's knee and her father telling her tales about his adventures as a child.

Fantina was gifted an egg by one of her mother's friends, which hatched into a Drifloon. Her mother was unenthusiastic about the Pokémon, insisting Fantina continue further studies instead of going on a journey. Eventually, at fourteen, she was allowed to set off on her Pokémon journey.

Kalos Queen

Having taken those dancing and acting extracurriculars, as well as having grown up around fashion shows and runways, Fantina was a confident and charming teenager who knew how to carry and present herself on stage, which extended well to her Pokémon Showcase campaign, especially for the Freestyle Performance stage. While it was only her first year, Fantina stormed to the title, earning the title of Kalos Queen in her first attempt. She proceeded to defend her title for two more years.

Contests

When she was 18, her parents officially divorced. While their relationship had already fractured years before, the finalization of the divorce was messy. With the increased media scrutiny, her mother's pressure on her to turn to modelling or acting, and her father's admission to her that he wished he could reunite with her half-sister, Fantina made the decision to not defend her Kalos Queen title, instead deciding to broaden her horizons abroad and participate in Contests.
