Ariston
This article is about the Sinnohan archon. For the family, see the Imperial House of Ariste.
Ariston and his wife Calanthe are the first archons of Sinnoh, credited with the first unification of the region. Ariston is recorded as affinity Null. A man of statesmanship, he put into place written laws and other establishments that later became the standard in Sinnohan society.

Early Life

Ariston was born first son to Lord Aidoneus of Michina, who was disappointed to discover his heir was Null. He was the unfavoured son, especially when his younger brother was born a year later. It is unclear how his life was at the time: most of the reports are from a much later era. Regardless, all we know for certain is that he married Calanthe.

Ascension to the Seat of Michina

By later historian accounts, Ariston, with the help of his new wife, assassinated his father and younger brother, leaving the path clear for him to ascend to the seat of Michina. By all accounts, he was a much beloved ruler. Secure in place, he and his wife fostered and grew Michina as the heart of philosophy and innovation, leading to various alliances with other disgruntled individuals hoping for change. Some of these individuals would go on to become the Five Lords, their second-in-commands.

Rise to Power

Drought and famine had left the cities discontent and fighting over limited resources; in 00, Melos of Curae, modern day Solaceon Town, attacked Michina. Ariston's response was quick and fierce, and they quickly overpowered Curae, killing Melos in the process. Unwilling to let the scenario happen again, Ariston left a vassal to hold the seat of Curae, and according to accounts, ruled all but in name. Regardless, this was the first step of conquests that eventually led to Ariston and Calanthe's unification of Sinnoh.

Unification of Sinnoh

With the surrender of the Verity faction in the west in 00, the region of Sinnoh was unified. In 00, in a grand ceremony that doubled as their coronation, Ariston and Calanthe renewed their vows to each other, and swore new ones to the land and people that they had claimed. In addition, the Five Lords also swore oaths of fealty, founding the four Houses of Sinnoh. This is the event by which Sinnoh's legendary weapons were supposedly created, although only a fraction remain in the modern era.

Joint Rule of Sinnoh

Ariston preferred the courtroom and the council table to the front line, so he spent most of his time in the region managing laws and hearing demands from his people. He worked most closely with Bia and Kratos of House Themis, hammering out a set of laws that the people of Sinnoh were bound to abide by.

Death and Succession

Death

With the early death of Calanthe, Ariston's health took a downturn, eventually leading to his death in 00. He was buried with his wife, somewhere in the shadow of the mountain. Most historians believe that this location is somewhere near modern-day Celestic Town, but has yet to be found.

Succession

His only son and eldest child, Caedan, succeeded Ariston to the throne of Sinnoh. However, his second child, Cydonia, made a bid for the throne, tearing the region apart in civil war.
